Nano ring hair extensions — also sold as nano tip, nano bead or micro-ring — are a
strand-by-strand attachment that uses a tiny metal ring instead of glue, tape or
keratin. If you are trying to work out whether they are right for a client, or what
they should cost, the answers below are the ones that actually decide it.
A nano ring extension is a single strand of hair tipped with a short, fine
section that is pre-bonded with a microscopic ring. Your natural hair is threaded
through that ring and the ring is clamped flat. There is no adhesive, no heat and no
bulk at the root.
The “nano” refers to the size of the ring, not the hair. Nano rings are the
smallest attachment in common professional use, which is why they are the method
usually recommended for fine hair — the attachment point is small enough that it does
not show and does not need a wide section of natural hair to hide it.
The strand count is the whole point of the method. Because each strand is attached
individually, a nano ring installation can be placed exactly where the client needs
volume, without a track or a seam. That flexibility is what you are paying for
compared with a weft.
Two consequences follow, and both are worth saying to a client before they
book:

If the deciding factor is “no glue and no heat”, nano ring is the answer. If it is
“maximum volume in the shortest appointment”, it is not.
There are two different durations, and almost every confusing answer online is
caused by mixing them up.
Published care guidance for ring methods commonly quotes a refit roughly every
6–8 weeks, with the hair itself lasting in the region of 6–12 months under good
aftercare (see, for example, the nano bead guidance published by Cliphair and by
Livable Hair, 2025–2026). We quote those as industry guidance rather than as a
promise about your client: the real figure depends on growth rate, how the hair is
brushed and washed, heat use, and how carefully the refit is done.
Where nano rings genuinely outperform bonded methods is reuse. A ring can be
opened, the strand removed, and the same strand re-attached at the next refit. A
bond has to be removed and re-formed.
The honest answer is that the method is not what damages hair — the
installation, the weight and the aftercare are.
Tension is the main risk. Any strand method puts load on the natural hair at the
attachment point, and rings clamped too tightly, or placed on too much hair in one
section, cause traction damage over time. Nano rings reduce that risk because the
ring is small and the section can be kept fine, but they do not remove it.
Weight is the second risk. Over-long or over-dense installations are the usual
cause of thinning at the root, and they are the easiest thing to get wrong when a
client asks for maximum length. Our

What nano rings avoid entirely is chemical and heat exposure at the root. For a
client whose hair has already been compromised by bleaching, that is often the
deciding factor.
Price splits into two parts that get quoted as one number, which is why quotes for
“nano ring extensions” vary so widely.
Freight is charged on chargeable weight rather than a flat rate:
US$35 for the first 300 g and US$20 for each further 300 g, to the
United States and to every country in Europe. A single 100 g set ships for $35. Full

When comparing quotes, compare the price per strand or per 100 g of hair
separately from the fitting charge. A quote that bundles them cannot be compared with
one that does not.
Good fit: fine hair, clients who react to adhesive or want no
heat, clients who need volume in specific areas rather than overall, and clients
already used to regular maintenance appointments.
Poor fit: clients who want the longest possible interval between
appointments, clients on a tight budget where fitting labour dominates the cost, and
anyone who will not attend refits — a grown-out ring method becomes a shedding and
tangling problem rather than an aesthetic one.

Yes, which is a real advantage over bonded methods. The strands are removed,
cleaned, and re-attached with new rings at the next refit.
They are the least visible strand method because the ring is the smallest
available. They can still show if the client’s hair is finer than the ring diameter —
test a section before committing to a full head.
Yes. Wash gently at the roots, do not brush wet at the attachment point, and dry
the rings properly — trapped moisture at a ring is a common cause of matting.
Neither is better; they solve different problems. Nano rings avoid adhesive and
heat and are reusable; tapes fit far faster and cost less in labour. The comparison is
