Buying wholesale hair extensions into France
PLUCHARM manufactures human hair extensions in Shandong and supplies French
salons, hair brands and distributors direct from the workshop. This page covers the
EU border position as it applies to a French trade account, and the specification
decisions that follow from the market you are selling into.
The €150 duty relief is being dismantled
Consignments below €150 previously entered the EU without customs duty. That
changed in 2026.
From 1 July 2026, small consignments valued under €150 entering
the EU attract a fixed €3 customs duty, applied to goods from
non-EU sellers registered in the EU’s Import One-Stop Shop (IOSS) for VAT. The
Council agreed the measure on 12 December 2025, and the European Commission has
confirmed separately that the €150 duty relief threshold is to be removed
entirely.
So an order that previously crossed the border duty-free now carries a flat
charge, and the transitional regime runs only to 30 June 2028 — after which
ordinary goods-specific duties by HS code and country of origin apply. Build your
landed cost on duty applying, and treat any relief as temporary.
France is among the member states that have been considering or introducing
national customs handling fees alongside the EU-level charge. The design was still
being finalised at the time of writing, so confirm the current figure with your
customs agent rather than working from a cached number.
VAT on import
Import VAT applies on goods entering France, calculated on the value of the
goods plus freight and any duty. If you are VAT-registered in France, import VAT is
generally recoverable through your VAT return — but it has to be funded when the
goods clear unless a deferment arrangement is in place. That is a working-capital
timing question, and worth settling with your accountant before a first large
order rather than after one.
The IOSS mechanism exists for B2C distance sales of imported goods up to €150,
so that VAT is collected at the point of sale. It is relevant to a brand selling
direct to consumers; a B2B commercial consignment is handled differently.
Freight and lead time
We ship from our own workshop in Juancheng, Heze, Shandong. Freight is charged on
chargeable weight rather than a flat rate, so you pay for what you order:
- First 300 g — US$35
- Each further 300 g — US$20
Every 100 g set weighs 0.16 kg shipped, so a single set is charged as one 300 g
step. Chargeable weight is 1.6x net hair weight, which covers packaging and
protective wrapping.
Lead time: 5–10 days for in-stock tape and machine wefts, 7–12 days for
hand-tied wefts and strand methods, 7–14 days for moulded or custom work. Repeat
runs are faster once your specification is on file.
Documentation, and why we send it separately
- Commercial invoice with per-line specification — method, shade
reference, length, quantity and unit price — plus country of origin and net and
gross weight. - Freight shown separately from goods value. Customs valuation
turns on the goods figure, and a bundled price obscures it. It also lets you audit
freight against the agreed ladder. - An explicit Incoterm. Ask if it is not stated. EXW, FOB, CIF
and DDP differ by the entire landed cost, and an unclear Incoterm is the most
common cause of an unexpected duty bill. - Batch specification on request, so a delivery can be checked
against the order rather than against an impression of quality.
We describe cuticle alignment, direction and draw in writing rather than relying
on a grade number, because grade numbers are not standardised across the trade. The
wholesale hair extensions overview sets out what 12A
cuticle-aligned means in practice.
What French buyers tend to order
French accounts most often need concealment and colour precision, and those two
requirements drive the specification.
For concealment, invisible tape and injection tape are the tape methods
specified where the base has to disappear at the root — fine hair, light colours,
and clients who wear their hair up. Injection tape is the lowest profile in the
range because the polyurethane base is moulded rather than laminated, so there is
no visible edge line. Where a client wants no adhesive at all, nano ring gives a
micro-ring bond with no heat and no keratin, and the ring can be re-used at refit.
For colour precision, the relevant fact is that all thirteen methods are
colour-matched to one physical shade ring, and we match to your ring rather than to
our own shade numbers. On light and worked colour — where a mismatch between the
tape and the hair is most visible — that single standard is what keeps a
rebooking client’s result consistent.
K-tip is also specified by French accounts working with bonded methods, because
the bond holds firmly and releases cleanly at removal, which is what allows refits
rather than full reinstalls.
Methods we manufacture
Genius weft, butterfly genius weft, machine weft, hand-tied weft, tape-in,
invisible tape, injection tape, butterfly tape, I-tip, U-tip, flat tip, K-tip and
nano ring — all produced in our own workshop in Shandong.
Trade terms
- Minimum order: in-stock shades can be ordered in small
quantities so you can test the grade. Custom colour, custom length and private
label carry a higher minimum because those goods are made to your specification. - Samples: available, and we would rather you tested the grade
than took it on trust. - Colour matching: send your ring or a physical sample and we
match to it, so your existing shade numbering stays intact. - Private label: full OEM and ODM runs under your brand,
including tags, packaging and your colour ring — see
private label hair extensions. - Specification across methods: 100 g sets, 18/20/22/24 in,
26 shades, 12A cuticle-aligned hair, colour-matched to a single physical ring
across all thirteen methods.
The full range is on the shop, and the trade overview is on
the wholesale hair extensions page.
Frequently asked
Is a small order under €150 still duty-free?
No. From 1 July 2026 small consignments under €150 entering the EU attract a
fixed €3 customs duty, and the €150 relief is being removed. Confirm current rules
with your customs agent.
Which method is least visible?
Injection tape, because the polyurethane base is moulded rather than laminated
and has no visible edge line. Nano ring is the least detectable of all, since there
is no tape, no glue and only a micro-ring at the attachment.
Can you match the shade numbers we already sell?
Yes — send a physical ring or a sample of each shade and we match to yours, so
your existing numbering stays intact.
Who pays the duty?
The importer of record, unless the Incoterm is DDP. Confirm the term before
comparing quotes.
Do you offer private label?
Yes — OEM and ODM runs under your brand with your packaging and colour ring.
