FOR SALONS, STYLISTS & HAIR BRANDS

Buying wholesale hair extensions into Germany

PLUCHARM manufactures human hair extensions in Shandong and supplies German
salons, hair brands and distributors direct from the workshop. This page covers the
EU border position as it stands, because it changed in 2026 and the change affects
how a landed cost should be calculated.

The €150 duty relief is being dismantled

For years, consignments valued below €150 entered the EU without customs duty.
That relief has now been addressed at EU level and is on its way out.

From 1 July 2026, small consignments valued under €150 entering
the EU are subject to a fixed €3 customs duty, applied to goods
from non-EU sellers registered in the EU’s Import One-Stop Shop (IOSS) for VAT
purposes. The Council agreed this on 12 December 2025, and the European Commission
has separately confirmed the intention to remove the €150 duty relief threshold
altogether.

Two consequences for a German trade account:

An additional customs handling fee has also been planned at EU level, with some
member states introducing or considering national handling fees from January 2026.
The design was still being finalised, so treat any current figure as provisional
and confirm with your customs agent.

VAT on import

Import VAT applies to goods entering Germany, on the value of the goods plus
freight and duty as applicable. If you are VAT-registered in Germany, import VAT is
generally recoverable through your VAT return, but it has to be funded at the point
of entry unless a deferment arrangement is in place. That funding timing is a
working-capital question rather than a cost question, and it is worth a
conversation with your tax adviser before your first large order.

The IOSS mechanism exists for B2C distance sales of imported goods up to €150,
allowing VAT to be collected at the point of sale rather than at the border. It
matters to a brand selling direct to consumers; it is not the mechanism a B2B
importer uses for a commercial consignment.

Freight and lead time

We ship from our own workshop in Juancheng, Heze, Shandong. Freight is charged on
chargeable weight rather than a flat rate, so you pay for what you order:

Every 100 g set weighs 0.16 kg shipped, so a single set is charged as one 300 g
step. Chargeable weight is 1.6x net hair weight, which covers packaging and
protective wrapping.

Lead time: 5–10 days for in-stock tape and machine wefts, 7–12 days for
hand-tied wefts and strand methods, 7–14 days for moulded or custom work. Repeat
runs are faster once your specification is on file.

Documentation and specification

German trade accounts tend to be exacting about specification, and rightly so.
What we provide on every consignment:

Cuticle alignment, direction and draw are described in writing rather than as a
grade number, because grade numbers are not standardised across the trade. See
what 12A cuticle-aligned means in practice for the detail.

What German buyers tend to order

German accounts work with bonded methods more than most markets, so K-tip is
frequently the default specification: the bond holds firmly, and it releases
cleanly at removal, which is what allows a client to be retained across several
years of refits rather than a single season. U-tip and flat tip are the other
keratin options, with flat tip chosen where the bond has to sit against the curve
of the head rather than stand out from it.

Where a client wants no heat and no keratin at all, nano ring is the heat-free
option — a micro-ring that can be re-used at refit with the strand simply replaced.

On colour, European hair tones sit in the middle and darker part of the range,
and all thirteen methods are matched to one physical shade ring, so a bonded line
and a tape line can be carried together without the colours disagreeing.

Methods we manufacture

Genius weft, butterfly genius weft, machine weft, hand-tied weft, tape-in,
invisible tape, injection tape, butterfly tape, I-tip, U-tip, flat tip, K-tip and
nano ring — manufactured in our own workshop, not bought in.

Frequently asked

Do consignments under €150 still enter duty-free?

No. From 1 July 2026 a fixed €3 customs duty applies to small consignments under
€150 entering the EU, and the €150 duty relief is being removed. Confirm the
current position with your customs agent.

Is import VAT recoverable?

For a VAT-registered German business, import VAT is generally recoverable
through the VAT return, but it has to be funded at the point of entry unless a
deferment arrangement is in place.

Which method suits German salon clients best?

K-tip is the bonded method most often specified, because the bond holds firmly
and releases cleanly at removal so clients can be retained across refits. Nano ring
is the heat-free alternative.

Can you match our existing colour ring?

Yes. Send a physical ring or sample and we match to it rather than to our own
shade numbers.

Do you supply private label for a German brand?

Yes — OEM and ODM runs under your brand, including tags and packaging. See the
private label page for the process.
